Roy C. Hammer, Sr., 78, of Kearneysville, WV died Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Winchester, Va. Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 5, 1934 in Elkton, VA. He was the son of the late Earl and Pauline Lam Hammer.

Mr. Hammer, Sr. retired from the Plumbing Industry. He was of the Methodist Faith.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn M. Hensley Hammer, at home; sons, Roy C. Hammer, Jr. and wife Debbie of Aiken, S.C., Michael K. Hammer of Shepherdstown, WV, Bruce A. Hammer of Kearneysville, WV, daughter, Dixie L. Hammer of New Hampshire; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters, Betty, Evelyn, Anna Lee; brothers, Melvin and Gary.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, WV with Dr. Henry Christie officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, WV
